Fellowship Trained Foot and Ankle Surgeon

Dr. Meagan Coleman is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon and is the newest physician at Orthopaedic Institute of Central New Jersey. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Biology at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York where she was also an active member of the women’s soccer team that made three NCAA playoff appearances during her tenure. 

Following her undergraduate work, Dr. Coleman received her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University in 2016 where she was consistently named to the Dean’s List. She played a crucial role in the Ohio Podiatric Medical Students Association as the Director of Clinical Affairs where she organized countless community outreach events, as well as, Kent State’s Annual Clinical Symposium. While at KSUCPM, Dr. Coleman volunteered her time at the Cleveland Foot and Ankle Community Clinic and also worked as a gross anatomy tutor and student ambassador. Dr. Coleman was honored with the Community Affairs Award for her philanthropic contributions during her time at Kent State. 

After podiatry school, Dr. Coleman completed a grueling 3-year surgical residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at a level-1 trauma center in Detroit, Michigan at Detroit Medical Center. She filled the role of chief resident her senior year and helped organize educational events for her fellow residents. Additionally, she played an influential role in the annual CASPR/CRIP interview process for residency candidates.  

In 2019, Dr. Coleman completed an American College of Foot and Ankle accredited fellowship at the Orthopaedic Institute of Central New Jersey. The fellowship focused on forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction, sports medicine, arthroscopy, and fracture care. 

Dr. Coleman has extensive training in all aspects of foot and ankle care. She has experience in fracture management, arthroscopy, ankle sprains, bunion pain, hammertoe deformities, achilles tendinopathy and much more. She specializes in trauma, elective forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction, orthopedics, and sports medicine. 

She has several peer-reviewed publications through the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, including: “Return to Pre-injury Status and Complication Rates after Achilles Tendon Rupture with Limited Open Repair and Anchor Fixation”, “First Metatarsophalangeal Joint Arthrodesis with Cage Implant to Address Gross Deformities of the First Metatarsal”, and “Osteochondral Allograft Transfer to Address Defect of the First Metatarsal Head in Early Hallux Limitus”. 

In her free time, Dr. Coleman enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, Mango, playing tennis, going on hikes, working out, and exploring new towns and cities throughout New Jersey and New York.
