Dr. Gregory J. Roehrig
Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Roehrig was born and raised in Rochester, New York. He attended college in Baltimore, Maryland at the Johns Hopkins University where he majored in biology, enjoyed a successful four year basketball career, and met his wife, Erin McFeely, M.D., a pediatrician in Monmouth County. After a brief respite from academics to play basketball in a European league, he returned to Johns Hopkins for medical school, with plans to pursue orthopedics.
Dr. Roehrig completed his residency training at the University of Rochester, one of the leading orthopedic research institutions in the country. He continued his training in Manhattan, sub specializing as a fellow at the prestigious Insall Scott Kelly Institute for sports medicine and joint replacement with longtime New York Knicks team physician, Dr. W. Norman Scott.
Dr. Roehrig is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and his practices focus on treating patients of various ages with traumatic and degenerative conditions of the hip and knee. He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee surgeons and a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. In addition to regularly performing minimally invasive, patient specific total hip and total knee arthroplasty procedures, he takes a special interest and has vast experience in the unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement and participates as a consultant and educator with industry leaders in the development and improvements in partial knee replacements. In addition, his vast trauma experience in residency has assisted him with the care of many fracture patients.
He has collaborated with Dr. Tozzi and spearheaded an outpatient joint replacement program in a surgery center environment. He is serving as the medical director for the joint replacement program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and is an active member of the orthopedic service line. Dr. Roehrig has authored and co-authored multiple orthopedic publications, participated in clinical research, and presented at national meetings. He is committed to applying the latest evidence-based research to his practice inpatient care, and attends national educational meetings annually to stay on the front lines of advanced orthopedic care and technology. He enjoys and firmly believes in actively engaging the patient in the process of understanding an orthopedic diagnosis and deciding among the recommended treatment options.
During his time away from work, Dr. Roehrig enjoys his family, basketball, the great outdoors, and fly fishing.
