On Thursday November 14, the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Jersey held our 5th Annual Sports Symposium for Shore Conference High School Athletic Trainers at Bar Anticipation in Belmar, NJ. The event was attended by Sports Medicine physicians and Athletic Trainers and served as an opportunity to hear experts to speak on topics pertaining to the assessment and treatment of medical conditions often effecting high school athletes as well as earn CME credits.
Our own Drs. Tennan, Petrosini, Glasser, Husserl and Gonzalez attended, as well as our Physical Therapists from Peak Performance Sports Rehab.
This year we were honored to have Terry Newman, RDN speak on Nutrition in Athletes, and Dr. Carney DeSarno, Attending General Surgeon at JSUMC, discuss current concepts surrounding pelvic pain and sports hernias. Dr. Peter Gonzalez and Mr. Kevin Hyland presented a case of an unusual shoulder dislocation in a high school wrestler.
The evening provides an opportunity for all of our professionals to share insight and experience regarding these conditions in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere, away from the athletic fields and training rooms.
The Orthopaedic Institute of Central Jersey continues to take an active role in engaging and educating ATC’s and other medical professionals as part of our mission to provide the best quality care to athletes and non-athletes throughout New Jersey.
