Conditions We Treat:
Arthritis of the Knee
Arthritis of the Knee can be the result of either Rheumatoid Arthritis or Osteoarthritis, both of which often cause pain, weakness and stiffness in the joints of the knee. In other instances, Arthritis of the Knee is the result of an unhealed or undertreated injury. For some patients, non-surgical treatments can provide lasting relief. For others, a Partial or Total Knee Replacement may be considered.
Meniscus Tear
There are two menisci in each knee and these C-shaped structures provide cushioning, stability, and support for the cartilage of the knee.  In younger patients, they often tear from a traumatic or a sports injury. In patients over 40, they tend to tear with much less trauma and often occur in the course of daily activities such as climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
ACL Injury
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) stabilizes your knee to prevent unwanted movement of the bones that meet to form the knee. If these ligaments are stretched too far, they can become partially torn or completely torn.  When this injury occurs, a “pop” is often heard and patients usually cannot continue with athletic participation and often require assistance with walking after the injury.
MCL / PCL Injury
Similar to the ACL, both the MCL and PCL are ligaments that control directional movement and extension of the knee. If these ligaments are stretched too far, they can become partially torn or completely torn.  When this injury occurs, a “pop” is often heard and patients usually cannot continue with athletic participation and often require assistance with walking after the injury.
Arthritis of the Hip
The hip is a ball-and-socket joint with a very smooth surface and a coating of cartilage over the ball and on the inner surface of the cup. When this cartilage on the ball (the femoral head) and the cup (the acetabulum) experiences thinning or deterioration, the hip becomes painful, inflamed and often stiff. Patients can notice increased discomfort with walking, standing, and sleeping. A limp is not uncommon, and it can become difficult to reach to the foot, shoes or socks.
Hip Labrum Tears
The labrum is the ring of cartilage surrounding the ball and socket joint of the hip and helps provide lubrication so the joint can function properly.  Labral Tears occur in two forms: degenerative tears and traumatic tears. Degenerative tears are the result of wear and tear over a period of time. Traumatic tears occur as a result of sudden impact or sports injury.

I just wanted to thank you for seeing my daughter. I spoke with several people after our visit and told them how kind you were, and the great advice you offered us.
Sincerely, Mary

Thank you for giving me my normal live back! You and your staff have been great to me and my family.
Sincerely, Michael

I highly recommend Dr. Petrosini. He performed ACL and meniscus repair 3 months ago and I am doing great.  Dr. Petrosini is wonderful. He takes his time with you, explains everything in great detail, and answers all your questions. I’ve never once felt rushed during an appointment.
